Magic
There are four types of magic: elemental, natural, enchantment, and spirit.
Elemental magic is what every living being has, from humans to animals. It is primarily a defense mechanism, though humans have used it to develop their societies and technology. The elements are earth, water, fire, and air. Everyone has magic, and this magic is determined by their time of birth. If they are born during the day, they will have whatever element their astrological sun sign is. If they are born during the night, they will have the element of their astrological moon sign. |
People typically require an object like a wand to help them channel their magic. Wood and plants are the only objects able to channel someone's magic, due to being alive and having a small amount of elemental magic themselves. People will talk to their wands, telling them exactly how they want their magic to work; this isn't like a spell, and is instead more of a command. Some people don't like to use wands, and will instead use sticks, staffs, or even weapons that are part-wood. Channeling works best with a wand.
Most people stop their magic advancement at the wand/channeling level. The next level would be summoning their magic with their bodies, and finally with their hands. Not many people make it this far, and a lot of people just use a wand due to how much easier it is.
People who use wands/objects for channeling are typically referred to as magicians, while those who are able to use their own bodies without the help of objects are referred to as wielders. Wizards are those who use all types of magic, and/or are so advanced with magic.

Natural magic is in nature, and aids people in some way. People are not able to control this magic. These magics come in the form of plants and crystals, which each have their unique magics based on what type of plant or crystal they are.
Plants aren't just used for channeling, but also for making potions and healing. Potions are ideal for soaking a plant's magic with other plant magics, to create potions of different purposes, like invisibility. Potions are also used to enchant objects. Crystals are used for transferring magic or power into objects. They are mostly used to power technology, or make potions stronger. They will even be attached to wands, to increase a person's channeling power. Some crystals can be enchanted too, though it depends on the crystal's vibration and properties. |
Enchantment magic makes objects do certain things, and is how most of the technology works (like lighting). Wood, metal, and (some) crystals are the best materials for enchantment magic; stone works poorly.
Spirit magic is the magic of the spirits, and what some humans of the physical realm are able to obtain if they are highly spiritual. |
